Marker Pen Drawing

MARKER PEN DRAWING

SOPHIE WISEMAN

I used marker pens, fine liners and pencil to draw this. The aim for this piece was to show use of light in a picture. I did this by layering colours, which sounds counter intuitive considering layering would make the colours darker, but it proved to be an effective method. I started with the darkest areas and added lighter colours to contrast. I was apprehensive to draw this as there are several different sections which require different techniques, such as the water, wood and leaves. I was tempted to colour in the leaves more opaquely, although decided not to and dotted in areas in the shapes of leaves and I like how it turned out.

My favourite part is the style I drew with, it allowed me to not draw too accurately but still shows a narrative and texture. If I were to recreate this, I would add more shadow to the wooden planks.
