Materials Sketching 2
MATERIAL
SKETCHES
Continuing from my last page in my sketchbook I decided to draw some materials using colour. Because the paper in my sketchbook is thin, it meant I couldn't use marker pens to quickly replicate the form of some textures. I used coloured pencils and this was effective, but only when colouring in small areas such as stones. When colouring in textures that are raised such as the cobble stone and rock at the bottom of the picture, depth was added easier as the pencils could be layered, however when attempting to draw wood-like patterns it was more difficult as a flat surface was more difficult to draw. I found that the coloured pencils I used don't have a wide range of brown colours and so decided to use a black fine liner to show the texture.
Overall, the wood texture took less time but isn't as eye catching. I may need to establish a drawing style that is time effective and looks appealing.
