BOLD DRAWING TECHNIQUE

Rose

I began by drawing a thick outline of the rose, which is unusual as we are traditionally taught to create shape and depth using shading and to never make a define outline as this gives a 2 dimensional effect. I added more lines to show the pattern of the petals veins. Originally I felt all the lines looked clustered, but now I find it resembles a tattoo style or even an illusion. 

Then I lowered the opacity of the whole drawing to make it seem less intense. I have yet to decide which of the 2 drawings I prefer.

I then added some colour as a separate layer beneath the black lines I had drawn previously. 

Overall it isn't the best think I've drawn. but was still interesting to see the effect I could create.
