Collage Experimentation
DESIGN LECTURE
Collage - 15 Minutes
By Sophie Wiseman
Within 15 minutes my class was asked to depict form, colour and texture using landscape magazines on an A3 piece of paper. I selected the colour of purple for the foreground and green for the background, although I did select blue first and changed my decision to purple.
Above is a scan of the piece I produced. Overall I think it is interesting but my colour choice doesn't seem that clear. Also, I think needed to place larger pictures at the back of the design and smaller, more detailed flowers at the front. I think where is struggled I tried to create a long sense of perspective, instead of a garden which is a short space and so my image seems clustered and undefined. However, I think the breaks of white where I quickly ripped the pictures out - e.g. the butterfly- rests the eye and contrasts against the dense overlapping of pictures beneath.
This was a fun task and quickly taught me the importance of having a colour scheme and how it effects the overall feel of a landscape.
